POLICE OFFICER JOB DESCRIPTION:

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

 

Provides protection of life and property within the municipal boundaries.

 

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

 

Works under the direction of the Police Sergeant.

 

 

JOB, DUTIES, & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

In general, the duties of a police officer are to patrol an assigned area of the city.

 

Provide a visible presence to deter crime and reassure the community.

 

Enforce traffic regulations, issues warning or citations.

 

Maintains familiarity of city, note suspicious persons or activities and investigates.

 

Respond to calls for crimes, complaints, suspicious activities or requests for assistance as necessary.

 

Renders First-aid in emergencies.

 

Conducts initial investigations of crime scenes, collect and preserve evidence, obtain witnesses statements.

 

Serves warrants and subpoenas; transports prisoners and assists in booking and jailing prisoners.

 

Identify, pursue, and arrest suspects and perpetrators of criminal acts.

 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND SPECIFICATIONS:

 

Ability to cope with situations firmly, courteously, tactfully, and with respect for the rights of others.

 

Ability to analyze situations quickly and objectively, and to determine proper course of action to be taken.

 

Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.

 

Ability to write and speak effectively.

 

Ability to develop skill in the use and care of firearms.

 

Good general intelligence and emotional stability.

 

Willingness to cooperate with officials and other police officers.

 

Willingness to learn and increase skill in police work.

 

Ability to react quickly and calmly under emergency conditions.

 

Skill in observation and memory of places, persons, names and incidents.

 

A Police Officer must be able to act without direct supervision and to exercise independent judgment.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

 

Must be at least 14 years of age

 

Must have at least 3 months experience playing GTAIV on the PC

 

Must have a legal copy of GTAIV on the PC

 

Must have a fully functional microphone

 

Must have Team Speak 3

 

Must have Simple Trainer

 

Must have ELS version 8

 

Must have LCPD First Responder version 1.0d

 

 

WORKKING CONDITIONS:

 

Exposure to unknown and dangerous conditions such as intoxicated or violent arrestees and life-threatening situations such as armed and/or violent arrestees.

 

Required to adhere to a high level of personal appearance, morals, ethics, and conduct.

 

Drives vehicles under hazardous driving conditions, during severe weather conditions, and/or in pursuit, operating lights and sirens.

 

 

THE SELECTION PROCESS:

 

Will be job related and will consist of the following: oral interview physical agility test. Applicants must qualify on all parts of the examination. Qualified candidates will be notified of the date, time and location of the examination.
